Safe Work Australia has released figures this week that indicate job injuries amount to $60.6 billion of the nation’s economy each year. Claims from injured workers have decreased in the last 20-years however Allison Hutton, who is one of Australia’s leading experts in health and safety, said that the death and injury tolls are still way too high.

Between 2012 and 2013 there were 118,000 serious injury claims Australia wide. These numbers are scary and employers need to be aware of any risks which could lead to injury in their workplace.

How to ensure your workplace is safe:

  2. Ensure that all staff have the required qualifications and training to conduct their role
  3. Train your staff on the correct safety procedures
  4. Implement health and safety policies and procedures to ensure staff are aware of the risks
