Annual leave
Employees, other than casual employees, are entitled to 4 weeks of annual leave per year, or 5 weeks per year if they are a "shift worker". more
Community Service Leave
An employee who engages in an eligible community service activity is entitled to be absent from his or her employment for a period where they are engaging in the eligible activity, reasonable travelling time associated with it and reasonable rest and recovery time. more
Fair Work Information Statement
The FWIS is a fact sheet containing information for employee about their workplace entitlements under the Act. An employer must give each employee, employed on or after 1 January 2011, a copy of the FWIS as soon as reasonably practicable after they commence employment. more
Flexible Working Arrangements for Parents
An employee who has the responsibility for the care of a child under school age, or child under 18 with a disability, may make a request to their employer for a change in their working arrangements to assist the employee to care for the child. more

The National Employment Standards are 10 minimum standards of employment set out in the Fair Work Act 2009 which apply to all national system employees and employers. more
Paid Parental Leave
From 1 January 2011, eligible employees are entitled to a maximum of 18 weeks of paid parental leave ("PPL") associated with the birth or adoption of a child for which they have the primary care, paid at the National Minimum Wage by the Federal Government (currently $569.90 per week). more

Parental Leave
Under the parental leave and related provision in the Fair Work Act 2009, there are a number of different entitlements such as, adoption related entitlements, birth related entitlements, provisions which apply only to pregnant employees, and some provisions which apply to all employees. more
Personal and Carers Leave
An employee, other than a casual employee, is entitled to 10 days of personal/carer’s leave per year of continuous service with their employer. An employee’s entitlement to personal/carer’s leave accrues progressively throughout the year according to their ordinary hours of work. more
Public Holidays
An employee is entitled to be absent from work on a day or part day that is a public holiday in the place where the employee is based for work purposes. However, an employer may request an employee to work a public holiday if the request is reasonable. more
Termination and Redundancy
An employee, other than a casual employee, is entitled to at least the minimum amount of notice and redundancy pay set out in the National Employment Standards based on their years of continuous service with the employer. more
Maximum Weekly Working Hours
An employer must not request or require a full time employee to work more than 38 hours of work in a week, unless the additional hours are reasonable. more
