UnderpaymentsAugust 20, 2013
Employees from various video stores throughout Western Australia recently celebrated a win with an accumulated $39,000 paid back to underpaid staff. This result came from an audit of 35 video stores which found that only 46 per cent of those investigated were complying with National Employment Standards.
The video store with the least amount indebted to staff was $500, while the biggest culprit owed a total of $10,500 to employees. The ombudsmen conducting the review also equipped video store owners and their staff with Fair Work Act advice , in the hopes of stopping this injustice from occurring in the future.
