In recent years, cherry farms have received a number of complaints from workers claiming that they have not been paid correctly. The FWO will visit cherry farms in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania to ensure employers are paying fruit pickers their full entitlements during the harvest period.
As this industry tends to attract young and overseas workers, during the audit, FWO inspectors will encourage cherry pickers to come forward with any queries or concerns they have.
Employers in this industry should ensure they are aware of which award or agreement applies to their employees.
