Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home, from people who were born here to people who have come from other countries around the world. The day was brought about so we can learn and understand how all Australians from different backgrounds equally belong to this nation and enrich it.
Businesses around the country are celebrating harmony Day today, an event designed to eliminate racial discrimination in the workplace and promote diversity by breaking down cultural barriers.
Unfortunately, Australian employers and employees still experience racial discrimination in the workplace. The costs to businesses that arise from workplace bullying and harassment are overwhelming in the millions. These issues need to be addressed head on before they get out of hand.
