Christmas can sometimes feel like a lost no-man’s land of days, where we find ourselves eating Pavlova for breakfast and Roast Potatoes for bedtime snacks. What days are the bins going out? Is it 2022 yet? Will the Turkey leftovers ever all be eaten? We can’t answer any of that for you… but here’s an explanation of Australia’s public holiday dates for Christmas 2021.
Christmas Eve
Friday 24th December 2021
- Queensland Christmas start off theirs at 6pm
- Northern Territory and South Australia start off their Christmas at 7pm
Christmas Day
Saturday 25th December 2021
Christmas Day falls on a Saturday in 2021, so all states have the Monday off as a public holiday.
Boxing Day
Sunday 26th December 2021
Boxing day falls on a Sunday, so all states have a public holiday on Tuesday 28th December 2021.
Monday 27th December
As Christmas Day falls on a Saturday, all states have a public holiday on Monday 27th December 2021.
Tuesday 28th December
Boxing Day falls on a Sunday, so all states have a public holiday on Tuesday 28th December 2021.
New Year’s Eve
Friday 31st December 2021
- Northern Territory and South Australia start off their New Year’s Eve at 7pm
New Year’s Day
Saturday 1st January 2022 All states have a public holiday except SA and TAS.
Monday 3rd January
As New Year’s day falls on a Saturday, the public holiday is given on the Monday the 3rd January 2022.
