Contractor Driver Minimum Payments Road Safety Remuneration Order 2016 (the RSRO) is not coming into force.
The RSRO was due to come into force on 4 April 2016 and would introduce minimum rates of pay for contractor drivers.
After much debate and speculation, the Federal Court of Australia has stayed the RSRO until further notice. Therefore, there is no need for businesses in the road transport industry to take any action at this stage.
There is no indication of when a further decision will be made on RSRO, but the future of the entire Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal is now under review by the Federal Government.
