An inbound Business Sales Consultant at Employsure has quite a unique and intricate position within the company. We are often the first point of contact with our clients. This is a hefty responsibility, but also a privilege. We have the chance to show our future clients what is to come.
In my four years at Employsure, I have developed an in-depth understanding and appreciation of Employsure’s services, and a vast knowledge of the complex workplace relations climate in Australia.
Irrespective of the background of our prospective client, there is a consistent theme in nearly every conversation. They are unsure, and have actively sought help.
A stock image of a business owner is glossy, and glamorous. This image portrays a confident individual working hard in their area of passion. However, a more accurate image would be someone faced with a range of issues or concerns they had never even considered, and unsure of how to manage these issues.
We deal with several business owners per day, who hail from different backgrounds. This means we handle many queries, varying in levels of complexity. In some instances, we speak with people who own multiple businesses and are covered by several Modern Awards. In some circumstances, they are brand new to owning a business, and have never even heard of the National Employment Standards, or the Fair Work Act 2009.
There are some business owners I speak with who have, through no fault of their own, let an employee slip into bad habits. I also speak with employers who have workers struggling at work due to mental health issues, or other personal matters. Both situations could be avoided with strong foundations in employment relations and work health and safety being implemented at the start of the business journey.
In bringing on new clients, we may provide them with a palate cleanse. We do this by establishing a fair playing ground for both parties. We ensure they are comfortable with asserting their rights, as business owners. We ensure a high degree of transparency, by establishing role descriptions, and providing access to not only professional but personable advice, whenever they need it.
Another common theme I have noticed with businesses owners, is that they genuinely want to do the right thing. However, it is the complexity of the system they are working in which stops them from acting confidently in tackling workplace relations.
Putting all technicalities regarding employment relations aside, businesses owners are some of the hardest working individuals and should be celebrated for the courage to pursue their passion. For this reason, I am proud to be part of the Employsure team as we provide support to this dedicated group of people right across Australia.
