Enhance Plastic Surgery is a cosmetic surgery business. I’m a plastic and reconstructive surgeon and we provide essentially a surgical service. We really restrict ourselves just to breasts and nose surgery and we also provide what we call a non-surgical service. So soft tissue fillers, wrinkle relaxing injections.
Probably the biggest obstacle is just managing a business. We spend 6 years in medical school, 7 years in postgraduate training and at the completion of all that training, I think we’re well qualified as plastic surgeons.
We’re very good at clinical decision-making, we’re good at performing operations but our training doesn’t include, business management – how to set up a business, how to mange a business.
People work best when they feel valued. And I think firstly you need to value your staff and they need to feel that they are providing or adding value to your business. Secondly, I think, they need to be happy. If you can provide a work environment that is enjoyable where people are happy then they will stay with you longer bet they’ll do their job better.

Probably two keys. One is you have to be passionate about what you do. And two, I think you need to strive for excellence. You need to be passionate and you can’t do everything by yourself so you need a team. You need a team who shares your passion. And together with that passion you then need to strive for excellence.
