The Fair Work Commission has recently clarified the way some Award provisions apply, and made minor amendments to the Amusement, Events and Recreation Award 2020
What Are the Changes?
Effective 1 June 2020, the Fair Work Commission (FWC) introduced the following changes into the Award:
The Award now covers employers operating golf facilities (including golf clubs, on-course and off-course golf shops, and driving ranges).
The Award now specifies that it does not apply to an employer covered by the Registered and Licenced Clubs Award 2010.
New classifications have been introduced for golf professionals and golf trainees. Including, but not limited to, a new Grade 10 for a Golf Professional.
Annual leave loading at the rate of 17.5% is now payable in addition to annual leave that employees take or become entitled to upon termination of employment.
Effective 18 June 2020, the FWC has clarified the way some Award provisions apply, and made minor amendments to the Award itself, including:
The year in the Award name has changed from 2010 to 2020. It is now called the Amusement, Events and Recreation Award 2020.
The Pay Rate Schedule has been updated to reflect the new 2020 version of the Award. Some rates of pay may have changed by one or two cents.
A new clause which highlights which employment conditions in the Award may be varied by mutual agreement with an individual employee or a majority of employees.
If you want to change an employees rostered shift, you will not only need to provide the impacted employee 7 days notice, but you must also follow the consultation requirements for a major workplace change.
What Do I Need To Do?
Check your rates of pay to ensure you are meeting your minimum pay obligations outlined in the attached Pay Rate Schedule.
Ensure you are paying annual leave loading when employees take annual leave or you pay annual leave at the end of their employment.
