For nearly 80 years, Sydney Dogs and Cats Home

has looked after Sydney's lost, abandoned and neglected pets.

So we reunite animals with their owners

and if we can't do that we rehabilitate and rehome them.

It's a very rewarding role that we play in the community

and we never put a time limit on an animal's life,

which is what makes us stand out from other organizations.

Our staff go above and beyond for all the animals that come into us,

some are very badly neglected and need a lot of medical care.

We have a vet team who just perform amazing miracles

with some of these animals to give them the best chance of life

and to enable them to go into a new family and a forever home.

We're a relatively small team here,

and we operate on a shoestring, a very, very low budget.

So we don't have the luxury of having an internal HR team or support.

About five years ago

we started working with Employsure to get that external expertise.

There’s obviously the policies, procedures and compliance issues

that Employsure helps us with, but they go beyond that.

What we use the most is the advice line to get that service to support our staff,

to make sure

from a compliance perspective, our organization is ticking all the boxes,

but importantly, to make sure our staff are getting the support that they need.

We’ve got a permanent facility that we’re trying to build at Kurnell,

which will enable us to grow our intake, so we'll be able to support

more of Sydney communities than we already do.

To be able to have that growth strategy with the animals means increasing

our staff count as well, and Employsure will play a really important role

in that growth strategy of as our people grow, supporting us through that journey.

We're experts in animal welfare,

we're not experts in HR, so having Employsure as those experts

working with us to support us has been really vital.
